The fastest professional workflow is to identify the damage, preserve what is usable, and make an informed call on repair versus a new take.

Confirm That the Vocal Is Actually Clipping

Start at the source waveform, before your vocal chain, mix bus processing, or master limiter. True digital clipping often appears as flattened peaks rather than naturally rounded waveform tops. Listen closely to loud consonants, sustained belts, and words with hard vowel attacks. You may hear a brittle edge, a rasp that was not in the performance, or a short burst of fizz on the peak.
